Her story begins with a statement, “I gave them everything with the expectation that they would give me what I needed, after all isn't that what relationships are all about?" One of the things she wanted most was to have a beautiful effortless and joy filled life. Yet, she's found herself exhausted most the time, with little to no space or time to experience the grandeur of what other people, places and things may have to offer. Her story was filled with all kinds of mixed emotions running amuck and manifesting a reality she could no longer tolerate.

She kept hearing a voice in her head yelling at her, "Get me out of here!" and she took it to mean that she no longer wanted to be on this Earth. However, in doing her work of, Knowing the Self, she decided, enough was enough and took a step back to honor the voice and welcomed it to tell the story of the pain it has endured at the hands of others. She heard the voice explain, "The more I gave the more they took, and I became the source for their addiction. I used up all of the resources that were once abundantly available to me, and now I am too tired to help myself or anyone else. So, I am asking you to free me from the prison of my own making, so I may stop the pain of abusing myself and giving permission for others to do the same".

She spent a few days examine where and when she developed this ability to be of service to others at the cost of her own well-being, she discovered there’s no to blame. She saw the truth on how her belief systems provided her with a conditioned responses taught to her by others. She now understands the importance of building healthier boundaries so that she may be the example for others and knowing that “She gives, because she can and so she does”.

This picture is from my mom's banana tree in Puerto Rico, and just like in nature, it gives because it can.
